NEPHEW EUGENE SAYS – HORSE OF THE CENTURY “HONORS” TURNED DOWN IN INSPECTION – THERE IS NO JOY AMONG THE “BIG LICKERS” TONIGHT IN SHELBYVILLE, TENNESSEE

SHELBYVILLE, TN – In a stunning turn of events, WGC contender “Honors”, the Horse of the Century, was turned down in inspection by a USDA VMO for unilateral sore and inconsistent sore on the other foot, and scar rule on both feet tonight.

Being displayed on an equipment trailer across from Calsonic is the closest HONORS got to being exhibited tonight. To the severe disappointment of thousands of “Big Lick” fans, Honors never made it off the equipment trailer.

Honors was to compete in Division B of the Aged Stallions which is a qualifier for the WORLD GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP next Saturday night.

The crowd audibly reacted when Honors did not come through the gate, and then the gate was closed. People started pouring toward the exits.

UNHAPPY PEOPLE FLOODING OUT OF THE CELEBRATION

Ole timers said the only thing which came close to this was 2006 when a WGC was not crowned for the ONLY time in the 75 year history of the Celebration.

Along with Honors ridden by Larry Edwards, who served a long Federal Suspension, Div B Contenders A Bruce Pearl trained by Jimmy McConnell and Jose’s Crystal Lite trained by Charlie Green didn’t get through inspection.

In Div A, three horses made the show ring, and the winner was Lampshade ridden by Bill Cantrell.

Nephew Eugene says the Trainers are threatening to STRIKE.

There will be updates on that.

    • Yes, he will need prayers, Larry will make sure that never happens again. Gonna send honors back to school, also need to burn off some more off that scurf.

    • Speaking of Pryers

BillyGoBoy, tell me the rumor is not true!

I was so hoping to get a chance to talk with Nephew Eugene this week to get the low down on the Celebration antics.

I heard that Nephew Eugene was posing for a photo opp on a trailer of a big named sored up horse and someone, without warning, drove off in a hurry with that trailer and sign and dumped poor Nephew Eugene to the ground and it put an awful hurting on him. Can you confirm or deny this, would not want to start any rumors you know!

  1. Sorry for cross posting but this kind of post can get you booted off WHC unless you are the owner and reach an Epiphany and post it publicly outside for all to see!

Has our TWH business totally lost its balls…?

Tonight we saw what ivy league educated ideas and loose money thrown at many problems gets…nothing but lip service. Hey Mike Inman, Hey David Howard with Jeffery in tow…how about listening to people who know what we are talking about because we actually attend these horse shows all yea and don’t watch them from an arm chair at the country club…DUMP SHOW HIO OR ANY HIO…HIRE ALL AAEP VETS…AND MAKE THE USDA WRITE ANY AND ALL TICKETS. The rest will be no show and back to the truck.

The moment David L. Howard, infamous Celebration board member, decided to dissolve the NHSC and get the trainers behind it…that was when this ending started. We saw that very evidence this week when David Howard tried to get the WHTA leadership to decided about the SHOW acceptance of the mandates. He wanted the Trainers to make the decision so they could take the blame. But more over… ****ty turn out, horrible inspections, and simpleton judging are the least of our worries, but we let SHOW(David Howards HIO) handle it all and the corrupt David Howard/John T. Bobo bunch…but the rest of us are stupid…some of us can’t even set in the stands. It’s all a Bobo/ Howard ploy to totally kill the Celebration and sell off the pieces…its nothing new. But don’t believe me… ask the citizens of Bedford County who do not even want to come to the horse show any more. We are dealing with idiots. The stands are empty because of what we saw tonight….overpriced entry fees, ****ty judging in specifically two classes, and no balls or professionalism in inspections.

The Celebration can be great for the rest of the week but it will be our responsibility. Those who love this horse business need to step up in several ways and the task is rather simple…attend the show and make sure all the championship classes are packed…it’s a plan and an easy plan. We have to bypass the distaste of those who lead our business to this altar, but as I have said before…we can not sink the ship because we do not like the Captain or the crew. We love the ship, we love the Celebration that we knew, but unless we make this show complete in a positive way, we can not try to make the changes that will make it a great show for many years and memory maker for the younger generations of our families. It’s a task that we need to complete.

      • My friend, Tomias, about a month ago said he didn’t want to talk about HIOs. And he chose to ignore the TRUTH that was being spoken.

You would think after “Herr” Howard sued him when he went in business, and pettily had him banned from the Celebration grounds that he would have had the cajones to steer a consistent course, instead of this Herky Jerky, “Honors” doesn’t get to show ‘COME APART”.

Yes Tomias, YOU can sink because of the Captain of the Ship.

        Enjoy.

          • Probably not.

In Tomias weak defense, he does have advertisers. And they yank his chain. His brother manages the farm for “Daddy Warbucks” Frank Eichler. And so it goes. BGB

  3. The solution is simple DITCH the stacks, chains, heavy shoes, “action devices” and all the chemical crap that goes with them, and SHOW sound, flat-shod horses with what the rest of the horse world considers “standard” shoes, only.

Get rid of the corruption and back-room politics that his strangling this breed. Hire honest, fairjudges who know what a running walk REALLY looks like – and who are NOT also making a living as “trainers.”

Make entry fees reasonable again so more people can “enjoy” showing their horses.

Do this, and the TWH will thrive.

  4. Don’t sore, you get to show. Sore and your ass is out the gate. Hope they cited these jerkwads and pulled their horses.

  5. Have you ever seen a major horse show like The Congress for quarter horses? People pack the stands to watch horses compete to see who is the slowest, quietest, least assuming horse in the ring. Why humans are fascinated enough to actually watch a reverse speed contest (most snail-like wins) is beyond me, but the numbers don’t lie.

There doesn’t have to be chains and stacks, foam and froth, or ‘wrecks’ in order for the stands to fill and the people to come.

If people would get behind a happy, quiet, natural moving horse, and PROMOTE it, then the Celebration would survive just fine without soring and Big Lick.

    • If you think those slow QH’s going in “reverse” speed get there with tender words of encouragement and pats to the neck then you are as deluded as those that think that its necessary to abuse them.

There is abuse in all facets at the top tiers weather its horse showing , sports , etc. The greed to win corrupts

      • Charm did not imply that they got there with “tender words of encouragement”. Her point was that division is characterized by very low keyed, low energy activity in the ring, yet it draws big crowds. Therefore, it is not necessary to have the TW flailing its legs in the air and struggling around the arena to generate interest.
A great moving, smooth striding plantation gait is a thing to behold.

    • Try getting a seat at the NRHA OKC finals night or the night of the Freestyle..you can’t. There’s a reason for this. It’s breathtaking to watch a horse run as fast as he can and drop to a small slow circle when the rider meerly takes an inside leg off. They don’t look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame when they ride and they aren’t hanging on their horses heads for balance or to MAKE them NOD. If you don’t like reining..try getting a seat at the NCHA finals night or the NRCHA finals night in Reno.

  6. We must pray for the horses that have been turned down for the double pain that they will now have to go through as punishment for failing inspection. It is so sad, the thought makes me sick.
